We went to our normal bi-weekly dog park run this morning, and came across a rather timid Corgi. The owner mentioned that her Corgi is “usually scared of everyone and very space sensitive”, but when Sagan went to sniff him, he seemed relaxed. They did a few play-bows back and forth, but I noticed Sagan wasn’t his normal “OH MAN PLAY WITH ME” towards the Corgi.
The owner noticed this and said out loud, “Your dog is amazing at reading social cues. I’m surprised. Usually my Corgi doesn’t like other dogs, so seeing him like this is really nice.” I thanked her, and kept watching Sagan, in case her Corgi turned on him. He didn’t, thankfully, and Sagan eventually wandered off.
Hearing that is incredibly flattering, especially owning a Shiba.
We are officially adding a Kai Ken to our family! The deposit has been received and we’re all good-to-go; it’s more or less a waiting game at this point.
